Molecular Capsules

‌We are generally interested on the reactivity changes experienced by encapsulated substrates and particularly interested on the investigation of the electrochemical properties shown by redox active centers fully surrounded by organic sheaths.  Molecular capsules provide a very elegant way to accomplish noncovalent encapsulation.  So far, our data indicate that encapsulation brings about a considerable slowdown on the corresponding electrochemical kinetic rates.  We are now planning and carrying out experiments to understand the generality and the origin of this kinetic deceleration effect.

We are also actively investigating several types of molecular capsules with nitroxide spin probes, using Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) spectroscopic methods.
